2ndLook — youth sports video coaching marketplace

Plain-language summary

We use personal information to run a private marketplace where athletes send sports videos to coaches and receive video feedback. We do not sell personal information. We do not use children's data for targeted advertising. Children under 13 need verified parental consent before we collect their personal information. Parents can review, delete, or stop further collection of their child's information.

1. Data we collect

Account and profile information: name, username, email address, phone number, authentication credentials, age or date-of-birth information, sport, experience level, goals, and profile image. We do not need a child's school name, home address, exact location, or full birth date for ordinary coaching.

Coaching content: uploaded photos, videos, audio, captions, questions, and coach responses — these may contain a child's image, voice, or sports setting. We treat children's photos, voice recordings, and videos as personal information. We do not create biometric identifiers from coaching content, and we do not use athlete content to train AI models.

Messages, support, and transactions: messages among athlete, parent, and coach; reports and dispute information; and transaction details (selected coach, tier, price, payment and payout status). A payment provider processes card or bank information — we generally receive only limited transaction details, not full credentials.

Automatically collected: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, session times, approximate location derived from IP, and security logs — used for authentication, fraud prevention, and reliability, not to build advertising profiles about children.

2. How we use it

We use personal information to provide the service (accounts, coach profiles, order delivery, order history), handle payments and refunds, keep users safe (account and consent verification, content moderation, fraud detection, enforcement), communicate transaction notices and service updates, improve internal operations using aggregated or deidentified data where possible, and comply with legal obligations. We will not use information collected from a child for a materially different purpose without new notice and consent when required.

3. How we share it

We disclose personal information only to limited recipients: the selected coach (only what's needed to fulfill an assigned order), the parent or guardian managing a youth account, core hosting and communications processors, payment providers, consent-verification providers, and safety/moderation providers. We also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect a child or another person, or enforce our agreements.

No sale or targeted advertising to children: we do not sell children's personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Sponsored coach listings are clearly labeled, contextual marketplace placements — not ads based on a child's activity.

4. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Children under 13 may not activate an account, message a coach, or upload content until verifiable parental consent is completed. We use a neutral age screen; if a user identifies as under 13, we collect a parent's contact information only to request consent. Before collecting a child's information, we send the parent a direct notice describing what we collect, how we use it, who receives it, and the parent's rights, and obtain consent through a method designed to confirm the person consenting is the child's parent or guardian.

After identity verification, a parent may review the child's information, request a portable copy, correct inaccuracies, delete the information, revoke consent and stop further collection, and close the child's account. Under-13 profiles are not publicly displayed. If we materially change what we collect from a child, how we use it, or who receives it, we will send a new direct notice and obtain new consent when required.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep children's personal information only as long as reasonably necessary. Key commitments: unverified parent contact is deleted after 30 days if consent isn't completed; children's videos, audio, and messages are deleted 180 days after order completion, or sooner on a verified parent request; deletion from active systems happens within 30 days of a verified request, with encrypted backups expiring within 90 days. Transaction and tax records may be kept up to seven years where law requires.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, you may ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information and provide access, correct inaccuracies, delete it, provide a portable copy, identify recipients where required, opt out of sale or targeted advertising, and appeal a denied request. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right. We aim to respond within 45 days or the shorter period required by law.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including access controls, encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate, logging, vendor review, and least-privilege access — along with a written children's information security program. No system is perfectly secure; if an incident affects personal information, we will investigate, remediate, and notify affected people or authorities when law requires.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Platform, vendors, law, or data practices, posting the revised policy with a new effective date. For material changes involving a child's information, we will send the parent a new direct notice and obtain new consent when required. Privacy questions and parent requests should go to the privacy contact, which will be completed before publication.
